Featured Artist: The Push

Check out The Push from SoCal's Inland Empire area. Not much of what I'm feelin, but I saw them perform last month and I applaud their energy and agressiveness with the mic. For that alone they deserve some respect. My favorite tracks are "The Jerk (Remix)" and "Put It On Ya". Check check check it out! Let the beat drop, I'm out!

Featured Artist: theBREAX

What's up world!? Every Tuesday to coincide with album releasesA Day in the Life of DeJuan will have a 'Featured Artist (or group)' in an effort to expand readership and further diversify the content of this blog.

With that said, this week's featured artist is theBREAX. Formed in 2006, theBREAX exploded on the Southern California Hip-Hop and Spoken word scene and took it by storm with incredible performances, becoming crowd favorites at Elevated, Vibes and the Hot Monkey Love Cafe, three of San Diego’s largest open mic venues. The group continued to electrify audiences, sharing the stage with notables such as: Tonex, Fred Hammond, 4th Avenue Jones, Pigeon John, The Visionaries, LMNO, LA Symphony, Future Shock, and Guinness Book Record Holder, Supernatural.

The members are an eclectic cast from: Azerbaijan, Baku (Ruslan: Emcee/Producer), Baltimore, MD (Beleaf: DJ, Emcee) and Oceanside, CA (Mic B: Drummer/ Production) and Vista, Ca (Name Brand: Producer). Their signature “Breaking out of the box” sound is a flavor that defies conventional songwriting with a combination of energy and precision. With their globally appealing sound and amazing live show, theBREAX are creating a diverse and loyal following of supporters. Mixing musical genres, while maintaining their own style has given them the ability to reach a wide array of people. -- taken with permission from their MySpace page--

I like these guys not only because they're from San Diego (my City stand up!), but because they promote positive hip hop and for lack of a better phrase, they just sound dope! Check them out!!
